I finally bought an art tablet, and this thing is nice. A risky investment given I am but an aspiring artist. I am enjoying it thoroughly despite my horrid art skills, though.
So many youtube, deviantart and other tutorials on art are now occupying a folder space on my web browser. Very excited, though anything beyond scenery / space art seems to be beyond me. Anything I find is truly designed for those with the basic skills already established, and these I have not. I have plenty of what I call mid-level skillset tutorials at the ready, but what I really need is the 101 and I suppose that takes nothing but practice on drawing shapes. This being in regards to drawing things like dragons and MLP fan art. I would imagine the MLP fan art would be the easiest to start with of course. Up until now I used the pen tool and dragged lines around to create what I have made thus far. Time for that to change.
Which takes me to a request! I have searched a great deal in finding the 101's of art, but perhaps I have missed key tutorials. If anyone has links to share in regards to art basics, I would most definitely appreciate it. So far, the best tutorials I have found were from a dragon art book that was given to me as a gift when I was 14 years old (I save everything dragon related). I have already created one piece from this very book, and I am quite happy with how it came out. To be uploaded shortly. I would also gladly accept any art revolving around scenery. This was truly my original drive for drawing, even as a child. Trees, rocks, mountains, grass, all the basics that go into a nice scenic piece I have been digging for. I seem to find a lot of the that mid-level material. Mostly techniques to shading and coloring. I personally seem to have trouble planting trees into the ground seamlessly, as well as rocks.. and mountains. But hey, I have a great deal bookmarked on how to color everything!
At any rate, my crazy work schedule as kept me away from doing much for the past few months. I sure hope to get to art in my limited time off soon. More MLP related content to come, no doubt.
I hope you all are having as great a day as I am!
